Job Description - Janitor

Under the direction of the Sanitation Manager, the Janitor is responsible for safely, efficiently, and effectively conducting daily janitorial duties of the plant and offices. The Janitor is a key component of our overall business success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
  1. Follow the guidelines of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), uniform and dress code, and product safety requirements.
  2. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards, keeping work area clean and safe at all times.
  3. Maintain a good attendance record and positive attitude.
  4. Support company policies and be safety conscious at all times.
  5. Report safety concerns and defective equipment to immediate supervisor or Team Leader.
  6. Understand the safe use and handling of all cleaning chemicals.
  7. Janitorial duties, which include but aren't limited to:
    1. Cleaning the breakrooms.
    2. Cleaning the restrooms.
    3. Cleaning the front office area, including the boardroom and training center.
    4. Filling soap dispensers in restrooms and at all handwashing stations in the facility.
    5. Filling towel dispensers in restrooms and at all handwashing stations in the facility.
    6. Floor cleaning, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.
    7. Collecting and disposing of garbage.
    8. Keeping outside areas of the property clean, including the employee deck and parking lot.
    9. Putting quaternary sanitizer on the floor in all designated areas.
  8. Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Requires education generally equivalent to a high school diploma.

Language Skills
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job:
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, tools, or controls; reach above shoulders; and talk and listen.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and use foot/feet to operate machine.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job included close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
