Base pay range $18.00/hr - $22.00/hr Summary Job Description The Albuquerque Academy Maintenance Department is seeking an individual for the position of Technician. This position is responsible for performing skilled maintenance, repair, adjustment and minor construction work in the trades to ensure that facilities are properly maintained and meet Albuquerque Academy standards. The Maintenance Technician must perform building maintenance tasks in one or more fields (e.g. carpentry, electrical, plumbing, etc.). They will also perform general cleaning and other tasks as assigned. Duties may fall into a variety of trades, including carpentry, drywall, painting, plumbing, and electrical. This position requires a highly motivated, self-starting individual with a positive attitude who needs little oversight in the daily scope of their duties and work activities. A successful candidate possesses strong verbal communication skills. They are a problem-solver. They are well organized and can effectively prioritize the work for each project. Follow-up is second nature with them. They maintain a strong sense of urgency concerning the scheduling and performance of the work . They work well independently or as a productive member of a group. The position is open until filled, and applicants are asked to submit a resume along with their online application. Essential Functions Perform preventative maintenance on building systems. Assist management in planning and scheduling preventative maintenance work and recommend approaches to preventative maintenance programs. Repair and maintain a variety of facilities systems, components and structures. Repair building plumbing and door hardware. Construct and maintain indoor/outdoor facilities, painting- interior/exterior, Drywall/texture and related components. Conduct structural inspections for safety. Size, lay-out and install waste, vent, and domestic water distribution systems. Weld or fabricate plates, brackets or needed devices. Unclog plumbing drains as needed throughout campus, utilizing drain cleaning equipment. Track and close assigned work orders daily on the campus work order management system. Maintain a broad working knowledge of materials, systems and code requirements related to preventative maintenance of campus buildings and facilities. Respond to campus facilities emergencies and closures including adverse weather to ensure that all facilities are protected and remain operational. Assist with tasks required in preparing to open campuses after a closure, including snow and ice removal, systems and equipment checks and start-up operations as assigned. Follow established checks to prevent building malfunctions, breakdowns, and general depreciation. Ensure a constant and consistent supply of materials and equipment at all times. Operate forklifts, scissor-lifts, and other heavy mechanical equipment as required. Maintain compliance with established safety policies, procedures, and certification requirements in order to operate heavy mechanical equipment. Maintain a clean work area throughout the duration of projects and clean up the job site following work completion. Maintain safe working conditions for self and others at all times. Store and maintain supplies, tools, and equipment in an orderly fashion. Prepare reports and/or maintenance records, as needed. Demonstrate cultural competence and communicate and collaborate effectively across differences. Other Responsibilities Attend employee meetings as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor. Job Qualifications Education A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Experience Minimum two years of experience as a Facilities Maintenance Technician is required. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Ability to effectively communicate and understand instructions both verbally and in writing from management, outside vendors/contractors, and other school personnel. Ability to work effectively under pressure and against strict time constraints. Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to multitask when necessary. Ability to be creative and seek proactive solutions to problems and situations with little to no supervision. Special Requirements Forklift driver certification within six months of employment is required. A valid Driver’s License is required. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Working Environment Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings on campus. Work hours are generally from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
