Job Description

The Personnel Commission announces an OPEN and PROMOTIONAL recruitment. This recruitment will result in the establishment of one integrated eligibility list. Promotional candidates will have seniority points added to final passing scores (.25 of a point for every year of classified service up to a maximum of 5 points). This list will be used to fill current and future vacancies and will be active for one year or until canceled. There is currently TWO positions open in the Transportation. Department. This is a 5 hour/day, 10 month position. Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist in providing safe transportation for students receiving special education services; and assist and care for students while on the bus.Requirements / Qualifications

Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and related experience and training working with children with special education needs is desirable. Licenses/Certifications Possession of a valid First Aid Certificate and satisfactory completion of CPR training is highly desirable. Knowledge of Child guidance and motivational principles ad practices related to children receiving special education services. Methods and techniques for meeting the special needs of students and behavior issues. Health and safety regulations. Oral and written communication skills. First aid and CPR procedures. Basic record-keeping techniques. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy. Ability to Assist in providing safe transportation for students receiving special education services. Demonstrate an understanding, patient, and receptive attitude with students with special needs. Monitor, observe, and control student behavior according to approved policies and procedures. Understand, follow, and carry out oral and written instructions. Physically lift, assist, and restrain students, as necessary. Learn to operate harnesses, tie downs, and various adaptive and assistive devices. Exercise good judgment and discretion. Communicate effectively both orally and writing. Observe health and safety regulations. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Administer basic first aid and CPR. Communicate with diverse groups and individuals.
